The comedy scene is livelier, with a dedicated venue hosting
regular stand-up comedy, while in late April and early May
theatres and pubs around town are alive with local stand-up
comics and top-flight international acts for the two-week
comedy festival. Suburban multiplexes have killed off smaller
cinemas leaving central Auckland with just
one twelve-screen establishment and one arthouse screen.
